An owner can buy a beautiful new T17T trim kit, open the box, and discover their wall valve is the old pressure-balance type. The trim won’t fit. • Water leaking from behind the escutcheon plate into the wall. The valve body’s bonnet seal has failed, or the plaster ground was never sealed properly during original installation. This is the one to catch early; we’ve opened walls in Old Mountain View where this ran for months unseen.
