• Sink base cabinet floor is soft or discolored. CGI’s standard sink base uses a ½-inch plywood floor with a melamine finish. A slow drain leak wicks through the faucet holes and swells the ply. By the time you notice, the substrate is compromised and the cabinet box needs rebuilding or replacement.
• Wall cabinets pull away from studs at the top. This is almost always an installation issue, not a CGI defect: cabinets hung on ¼-inch drywall with no stud backing, common in 1970s Mountain View tract homes. The CGI box itself is fine; the mounting rail or ledger board behind it has failed.
